Optional Online Trainings

FEMA Trainings

PMSC AmeriCorps Members may count training hours from the PMSC approved FEMA training list that is provided in the link below. In order for hours to be approved, the following criteria must be met:

  • The amount of time claimed on a timesheet may not exceed the amount of time FEMA suggests that it will take to complete the course as per the PMSC approved list.

  • Training hours completed in the evenings or weekends should be between the hours of 6am and 10pm.

  • Each training will only be counted once per member per program year, repeated sessions of the same training will not count for service hours.

  • The certificate of course completion must be provided to your Regional Coordinator, Email Heather Kennedy or Email Jena Shaffer in order for a timesheet to be approved.

Step 1: Register For FEMA SID

Before you are able to access the trainings, members will need to register for a FEMA Student Identification (SID) number. This SID is your unique identifier and will register the trainings you attend/complete. Register for a FEMA SID

Step 2: Open The Course List And Click On The Training You Want To Do.

PMSC Approved FEMA Trainings Course List  Please download a copy of this list to your device and highlight courses as you complete them so you keep track of which ones you have already done. You may not repeat courses during the same program year.  When you click on the “Course Link,” your course will automatically open. The “advance” button will be at the bottom of the screen in a blue box to advance through the slides.

You can log-in to the EMI Student portal  at any time to see what courses you have already completed and the dates you took them.

Step 3: Complete The Course And Take The Final Exam (You will be required to enter your FEMA SID that you received in STEP 1).

Step 4: Report FEMA training hours on a timesheet as follows:

  • Category- “Training- PMSC Approved Training” (name of training in comments/ provide certificate).

  • Location- “Teleservice” or “Host Site,” whichever is the actual place member completed training.

  • In Comment Section- Date(s) training took place, Hours worked on training per day, Name of training, and Issue Date on Certificate of Completion (date exam was successfully completed)

  • If a member is taking a training over multiple days, please give specific details in the comment section about when you worked on that training.

    • Example: 3/21, 3/22, 3/23- FEMA Disaster Preparedness Training (2 hours each day) Certificate of Completion Issue Date 3/24

  • At minimum, one 15 minute break is required for every 5 hours of service/training recorded.

Step 5:  You may not receive the Certificate of Completion to your email immediately. When FEMA does issue your certificate (or link to certificate), please send it  to your Regional Coordinator, Email Heather Kennedy or Email Jena Shaffer  in order for a timesheet to be approved.
